WHY DO YOU DO IT? WHAT DRIVES YOU?
I do it because I can’t not do it. I’ve been stomping around singing songs and making fantasy worlds since I was 3. Obviously it’s some sort of subconscious survival mechanism. I don’t glamorize drive or have ulterior motives baked into any of my creative output.
WHAT IS ONE THING YOU DO FOR SANITY MAINTENANCE?
This is going to sound so boring. Exercise. Move a muscle, change a thought, and everyone lives to see another day.
WHAT IS THE SCRAPPIEST THING YOU’VE DONE FOr money?
Selling a guitar I should not have sold. It was mine, everyone calm down.
YOUR TASK IS TO PRESCRIBE ONE BOOK OR FILM TO THE COLLECTIVE. WHAT IS IT?
CAPITALIST REALISM by Mark Fisher.
Current obsession?
My vintage Yohji Yamamoto coat.
MOST USEFUL FAILURE?
Everything I do and nothing I do. I think the idea of failure in the creative sense is tied too much into industry/clout/money.
SELECTED Q FROM THE PROUST QUESTIONNAIRE: What is your current state of mind?
Peace and morning clarity. As I write this, my sleeping mask is resting on my forehead while I put off becoming a vertical being.
WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY WORKING ON?
I just released THE GLOSSOLALIA TAPES, a companion EP to my last album RESSURECTA, featuring Lydia Lunch, Richard Cabut, matt gahler, and Luxury Dessert Fetish. Richard Cabut and I are about to start pre-production on a joint collaborative full-length record. And of course I always have other things up my sleeve.
DISCIPLINE OR ANARCHY?
Discipline as the container. Anarchy as the content.
